SEN Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Fareham, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 or October 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a full-time SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) to join a secondary school in Fareham, Hampshire. This role is based within the school’s resource base, which supports students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language needs. The position starts in September or October 2025, dependent on notice periods, with opportunities to progress through pay grades as experience is gained.
Candidates from the care sector with transferable skills supporting children with SEN or physical disabilities are encouraged to apply.
SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with EHCPs in the resource base on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist students with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language needs to access the curriculum
- Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, therapists, and external professionals to implement EHCP targets
- Support the development of social communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills
- Monitor student progress and contribute to planning and review meetings
Requirements for a SEN Learning Support Assistant:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or physical disabilities in education, care, or health settings
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable but not mandatory
- A degree in SEN, Psychology or a similar field.
- Compassionate, adaptable, and patient approach to supporting students
- Strong communication, teamwork, and record-keeping skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding practices
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
