Behaviour Support Assistant – Secondary School – Havant, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 or October 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you dedicated to supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs in a secondary school environment?

GSL Education are looking for a full-time Behaviour Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Havant. This role starts in September 2025 or October 2025, depending on notice periods. You will work alongside the Pastoral Team supporting students who have been removed from classes due to behavioural challenges and also provide support for students experiencing Anxiety, Depression, and other SEMH difficulties.

Main Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Work closely with the Pastoral Team to support students removed from lessons due to behaviour issues
  • Assist students with SEMH needs, including Anxiety and Depression, to re-engage with school life
  • Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive choices
  • Facilitate interventions to help students regulate emotions and improve behaviour
  • Liaise with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure consistent support

Behaviour Support Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or SEMH needs
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable but not mandatory
  • A degree in SEN, Psychology or a similar field.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
