GSL Education are currently recruiting a dependable and hardworking Caretaker for a supportive school based in the S2 area of Sheffield. This role is ideal for someone with a practical mindset and experience in site maintenance, facilities, or caretaking, looking to make a positive impact in a school setting.
Role Overview:
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining the school buildings and grounds, carrying out repairs, ensuring site safety, and supporting the smooth daily operation of the premises.
Responsibilities as a Caretaker:
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs across the school site.
- Ensure the school grounds and facilities are always clean, secure, and safe.
- Open and lock the premises daily, checking alarms and security systems.
- Support staff with room set-ups, moving equipment, and event preparation.
- Manage waste disposal and liaise with external contractors when needed.
- Monitor health and safety compliance across the premises.
Requirements for a Caretaker:
- Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or facilities role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety, and DIY tasks.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and capable of working independently.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Provide a full CV with a 10-year employment history and explanations for any gaps.
