GSL Education are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to work within a welcoming school community in Sheffield (S20). This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in premises management or maintenance who is ready to make a meaningful impact in an educational setting.
Role Overview:
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for the security, upkeep, and cleanliness of the school premises. You’ll play an essential part in ensuring a safe and functional environment for learning, supporting both staff and pupils throughout the school day.
Responsibilities as a Caretaker:
- Safeguard and maintain the building and grounds, including minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
- Open and close the school premises daily, ensuring all security systems are active and functional.
- Carry out regular health and safety checks and report any concerns promptly.
- Assist with moving furniture, deliveries, and setting up rooms for school events.
- Manage site cleanliness and liaise with cleaning staff where necessary.
- Support emergency procedures and help maintain a safe school environment.
Requirements for a Caretaker:
- Previous experience as a caretaker, premises officer, or in a facilities management role is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of basic DIY and maintenance skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently with a proactive attitude.
- Understanding of health and safety protocols within a school environment.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Full, up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any employment gaps.
