Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)

Salary: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Chesterfield. As an SEMH TA, this is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students facing emotional or behavioural challenges.
Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them stay engaged in their learning.
- Support students’ emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
- Foster a calm, safe, and nurturing environment for learning.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, teachers, therapists, and families to implement personalised support plans.
- Safely transport pupils as needed — therefore, a full UK driving licence with business insurance is essential.
- Promote inclusion, independence, and a positive attitude towards education.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs.
- Full UK driving licence and business insurance (essential for travel to different provisions or home-school transport).
- Excellent communication, patience, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour support strategies.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with any gaps explained.
