Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant
Location: Brede
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Long-term, Full-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a compassionate and committed Individual Needs Assistant in Brede. This position is ideal for someone with experience or a strong interest in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with autism, speech and language delays, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities of the Individual Needs Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with individual learning and behavioural needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of personalised learning plans in coordination with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Encourage the pupil’s participation, independence, and confidence in classroom activities.
  • Support social interaction, emotional regulation, and communication development.
  • Maintain consistent and clear boundaries to support positive behaviour.
  • Monitor and record progress, reporting updates to relevant staff as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with additional needs in a school or similar setting is highly desirable.
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to learning support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a willingness to undergo necessary checks.
  • Relevant qualifications or training (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or similar) are a bonus.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
