Salary: £220 - £320 per day (based on experience and qualifications)

Your Role as Head of Science:
As the Head of Science, you’ll lead by example—both in and out of the classroom. Your role will focus on:

Curriculum Development & Innovation: Design and deliver a forward-thinking, broad, and balanced science curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, in line with current research and curriculum standards.

Team Leadership: Inspire and develop a strong team of science teachers through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative planning.

Raising Achievement: Implement data-driven strategies to drive student progress, raise attainment, and close learning gaps across all key stages.

Teaching Excellence: Deliver outstanding, engaging lessons that spark curiosity and foster a deep understanding of scientific principles.

Quality Assurance: Monitor teaching quality, assess outcomes, and drive continuous improvement through rigorous self-evaluation.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with senior leaders and contribute to whole-school initiatives and development plans.

Promoting STEM: Champion the importance of STEM subjects and help build pathways into further education and science-related careers.
✅ The Ideal Head of Science Will Bring:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a science-related field.

Experience teaching science at both KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).

Proven success in leading a department or coordinating subject delivery.

A passion for science education and the ambition to raise standards.

Strong people management, communication, and strategic planning skills.

A genuine commitment to inclusion, diversity, and nurturing student potential.

An enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
