Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)

Salary Range: £95 - £120 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in specialist and mainstream settings across Doncaster. This role as Social, Emotional and Mental Health TA is ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive yet challenging environment and is dedicated to helping students build confidence, resilience, and self-belief.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs to access learning in a structured environment.
  • Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and individual behaviour plans.
  • Helping to manage behaviour positively and consistently.
  • Building trusting relationships with students and acting as a positive role model.
  • Supporting class teachers and SENCOs in delivering tailored support strategies.
  • Encouraging student engagement, attendance, and emotional wellbeing.

Skills & Requirements as an SEMH TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or similar challenges.
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and supportive in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
