Part-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Bournemouth
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Part-Time

Are you a patient, dedicated individual with experience supporting children on the autistic spectrum?

GSL Education are currently recruiting a part-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) for a welcoming primary school in Bournemouth, starting this September. This rewarding role will involve providing personalised support to a child on the autistic spectrum, helping them access the curriculum and navigate the school day with confidence.

The school is seeking a candidate with prior experience working within a school setting, supporting children with Autism. Interviews are taking place as soon as possible to ensure a smooth start for the upcoming term.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will be:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism, helping them engage with learning and classroom routines
  • Implement strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and social development
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver personalised learning plans
  • Foster a positive, structured, and supportive environment for the pupil
  • Monitor progress and share regular feedback with the wider school team

1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) Requirements:

  • Specific experience supporting children with Autism as a Teaching Assistant or similar in a school setting
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare is desirable but not essential.
  • A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not essential.
  • A calm, consistent, and compassionate approach to individual needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to adapt
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
