GSL Education are currently looking to recruit a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teacher to work within schools across Doncaster. Whether you are looking for short-term flexibility or a long-term opportunity, we have roles suited to your preferences and expertise.
As an SEMH Teacher, this role involves teaching and mentoring students who require additional support to access learning and regulate their emotions effectively within a safe and supportive environment.
As an SEMH Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering creative and individualised lessons tailored to SEMH learners.
- Establishing trusting relationships to foster emotional security and engagement.
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans.
- Collaborating with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Monitoring progress and adapting teaching strategies to suit pupil needs.
- Encouraging the development of social skills and emotional wellbeing.
Skills & Requirements for an SEMH Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEMH settings.
- Ability to manage behaviour positively and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and resilience.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and safeguarding procedures.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years with explanations for any gaps.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
