This role of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher involves delivering individualised and structured learning to support the academic, emotional, and behavioural progress of students facing SEMH challenges.
As an SEMH Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for SEMH pupils.
- Providing emotional support and fostering positive relationships with students.
- Implementing behaviour support plans in collaboration with school staff.
- Creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Working closely with TAs, SENCOs, and outside professionals.
- Tracking pupil progress and adjusting strategies to support individual growth.
Skills & Requirements for an SEMH Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching SEMH students.
- Ability to manage behaviour with a calm and empathetic approach.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding protocols.
- A current, detailed CV (covering the past ten years with any gaps explained).
- An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
