GSL Education are currently recruiting a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher to work with schools in Sheffield. This opportunity is perfect for educators who are looking to make a genuine difference through tailored learning and behaviour support. Roles are available on both a flexible supply and long-term basis, depending on your availability and preference.
The SEMH Teacher role involves building a caring environment where students can achieve their best and develop key social and life skills.
As an Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Developing positive relationships to support students’ emotional and behavioural development.
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and following individual education plans.
- Working collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external agencies.
- Monitoring progress and adjusting interventions to maximise impact.
- Fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Skills & Requirements for an SEMH Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching SEMH students.
- A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
- Excellent communication and team-working skills.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practice and safeguarding procedures.
- An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, with explanations for any gaps).
- An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
