In your role as an SEMH Teacher, you will develop and deliver tailored teaching plans, collaborating with support teams and outside specialists to foster a supportive learning space where every student can flourish.

As an Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that support pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Implement personalised learning and behaviour plans in line with EHCPs.
  • Work collaboratively with TAs, SENCOs and external agencies to meet individual needs.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Track pupil progress and adjust strategies to maximise engagement and development.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and social interaction skills among pupils.

Skills & Requirements for an SEMH Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching pupils with SEMH.
  • Strong classroom management skills and understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working abilities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection responsibilities.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with explanations for any gaps).
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
