Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary: £83 - £100 per day
Start Date: September 2025
GSL Education are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work at a Client Primary School, located approximately 15 miles north of York, North Yorkshire, starting September 2025.

- The school is an comprehensive secondary school with students aged 11-18 graded “Good” by Ofsted in quality of education and personal development this year.
- They have students from over 35 primary schools, which contributes to the friendly, diverse environment at the school.
- The school actively looks for ways to enhance its efficiency and benefits from collaborating with others.
- At Key Stage 5, the school collaborates with another School, where many of their students go on to University with others securing Apprenticeships or employment.
- The school works hard to make sure that every student graduates with the knowledge and self-assurance necessary to actively participate in their communities and the credentials required to access the next stage of their education.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to a student with special needs.
- Work with students on 1:1 or small group basis whenever required.
- Use appropriate strategies to manage student’s behaviour.
- Be patient and have a kind and caring approach.
- Build strong, trusting bonding with student.
- Provide emotional support during challenging situations.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience supporting students with special needs.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools/EYFS).
- Experience in education, child development, or mental health support is desirable.
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
