Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students to engage positively with their learning and develop essential life skills. You will guide students in managing their emotions and behaviours, helping them navigate obstacles both inside and outside the classroom.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties.
  • Support pupils in developing coping strategies, resilience, and self-confidence to help them re-engage with learning.
  • Implement tailored behaviour intervention plans, working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment by modelling positive behaviour.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records to inform ongoing support strategies.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for students, encouraging open communication and mutual respect.
  • Assist with classroom management, helping maintain a focused and calm atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a cohesive approach to each student's development.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support, Youth Work, or Teaching Assistant role, particularly supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire trust and motivate students.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of individual students and the wider school environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
