Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)

Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to join a supportive and inclusive educational setting in Staveley. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on pupils who benefit from consistent, structured emotional and academic support.

Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils facing emotional and behavioural challenges, working to help them access learning and develop social and emotional resilience in a safe, supportive environment.

Responsibilities as a SEMH TA:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Support students in managing emotions, building confidence, and engaging with learning.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour plans and support strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to promote inclusion.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment.

Requirements for SEMH TA:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to managing behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years (with no unexplained gaps).
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
