Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Castleford
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to work in a supportive school environment based in Castleford. This role offers a chance to make a real difference in the lives of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with learning, develop emotional resilience, and build confidence in and outside the classroom.
Responsibilities as a SEMH TA:
- Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis with their academic, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Encourage pupils to build confidence, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills.
Requirements for SEMH TA:
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour is essential.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to support.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years (with no unexplained gaps).
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
