Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Behaviour Mentor
Location: Hailsham
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

A supportive school in Hailsham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to take on a dual role as a Behaviour Mentor, working closely with pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone with a calm, patient approach and a passion for helping young people build confidence and resilience.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
- Work closely with the class teacher and pastoral team to ensure consistent support.
- Build positive relationships and act as a role model and mentor.
- Support academic and social development in a structured, supportive environment.
- Monitor progress and help students achieve their individual goals.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or in alternative provision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a nurturing, non-judgemental attitude.
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and use positive behaviour reinforcement.
- A genuine passion for helping pupils succeed emotionally and academically.
- Relevant TA or SEN qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
