Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £86 - £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a reliable and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Chesterfield. This is a full-time opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping students with behavioural and emotional challenges succeed in education.

Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who may struggle with anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, or behaviour. Your role will involve working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions and consistent support.

Responsibilities as a SEMH TA:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Encourage emotional resilience, self-regulation, and positive behaviour.
  • Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.
  • Support students in both classroom and off-site settings where required.

Requirements for SEMH TA:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural difficulties.
  • A calm, consistent, and patient approach to challenging behaviour.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills.
  • Full UK driving license with business insurance (essential).
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel across sites as required.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years (with no unexplained gaps).
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
