Job Title: Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £86 - £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and empathetic Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in specialist and mainstream primary settings across Chesterfield. This full-time role is ideal for someone who can build strong relationships and positively impact young learners’ behaviour and emotional well-being.
Role Overview:
As a Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with SEMH needs who may display challenging behaviour, anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficulties engaging in learning. Your role will involve providing one-on-one or small group support, promoting emotional regulation, and helping children access education in a safe and structured way.
Responsibilities as a SEMH TA:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs in a primary school environment.
- Support emotional development, social skills, and behaviour management.
- Deliver strategies and interventions that promote well-being and engagement.
- Liaise effectively with SENCOs, class teachers, and external agencies.
- Be flexible and willing to travel between sites as needed.
Requirements for SEMH TA:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs.
- A calm, consistent, and patient approach to challenging situations.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- Full UK driving license with business insurance (essential).
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years (with no unexplained gaps).
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
