SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Salary: £83 - £100 per day

Start Date: September 2025

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work at  an Alternative Provision in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025.

SEN Teaching Assistants Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a range of complex learning needs.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans.
  • Use non-verbal and alternative communication strategies to engage and support learners.
  • Support class teachers in planning and delivering lessons and learning activities.
  • Contribute to monitoring and assessing progress.

SEN Teaching Assistants Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Prior experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • Holding a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Have patience, empathy, and a positive approach to helping children.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and techniques to manage challenging behavior is advantageous.
  • Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
