Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £110 – £130 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

A welcoming and forward-thinking school in Chesterfield is seeking a proactive and experienced Attendance Officer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead on attendance initiatives, support families and students, and ensure every learner has the opportunity to thrive. This role is integral to improving outcomes and fostering positive relationships with the wider school community.
Responsibilities for Attendance Officer:
- Monitor daily attendance data, identify patterns, and implement strategies to improve attendance and punctuality.
- Carry out home visits and liaise with families to support attendance improvement.
- Work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams to address barriers to attendance.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for SLT and external agencies.
- Develop and lead on attendance policies and reward systems to encourage good attendance.
- Support early intervention strategies and statutory procedures when necessary.
What You’ll Need as a Attendance Officer:
- Proven experience working in a school attendance, pastoral, or welfare role.
- In-depth knowledge of school attendance legislation and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed to engage with families and professionals.
- Full UK driving licence with business insurance – essential for conducting home visits.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and make sound decisions.
- An up-to-date CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
