Job Title: Second in charge - Science
Location: Greenwich
Salary: £38,766 - £60,092 per annum (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

A high-achieving and forward-thinking school in Greenwich is seeking a dynamic and motivated Second in Charge of Science to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed educator to support the strategic development of the science department and help raise standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.
Key Responsibilities of the Second in charge - Science:
- Support the Head of Department in the leadership and management of the Science faculty.
- Deliver high-quality lessons across KS3–KS5 in your specialist science subject.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment development, and data analysis.
- Mentor and support teachers within the department, sharing best practices.
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement.
- Play an active role in developing STEM enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.
Requirements of the Second in charge - Science:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Degree in a science-related subject.
- Proven experience teaching science in secondary schools.
- Previous leadership or responsibility within a department is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- A commitment to inclusive and aspirational education.
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
