Job Title: Second in charge - Science
Location: Greenwich
Salary: £38,766 - £60,092 per annum (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

A high-achieving and forward-thinking school in Greenwich is seeking a dynamic and motivated Second in Charge of Science to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed educator to support the strategic development of the science department and help raise standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.

Key Responsibilities of the Second in charge - Science:

  • Support the Head of Department in the leadership and management of the Science faculty.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons across KS3–KS5 in your specialist science subject.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment development, and data analysis.
  • Mentor and support teachers within the department, sharing best practices.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement.
  • Play an active role in developing STEM enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.

Requirements of the Second in charge - Science:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Degree in a science-related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching science in secondary schools.
  • Previous leadership or responsibility within a department is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive and aspirational education.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
