Job Title: Cover Supervisor (CS)

An excellent secondary school in Stockport is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team on a long-term basis. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic school community with pay to scale, ideal for those considering a future in teaching or looking to build experience in education.

Key Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor (CS):

  • Supervise and manage a classroom during the short-term absence of the regular teacher.
  • Ensure that students remain on task and follow the set lesson plans.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
  • Record attendance and behaviour and report back to teaching staff.
  • Provide support to departments and assist with classroom preparation when required.

Requirements of the Cover Supervisor (CS):

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational or youth setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and confidence to lead groups independently.
  • A calm, professional, and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine interest in education and student development.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
