Job Title: Primary Teacher for KS3 Transition

An excellent secondary school in Stockport is seeking a Primary Teacher to lead its KS3 transition programme on a long-term basis. This unique role is ideal for a skilled and nurturing teacher who can bridge the gap between Key Stage 2 and 3, helping Year 7 pupils adjust academically and emotionally to the secondary environment. The position is paid to scale and offers the chance to make a real impact in a forward-thinking and inclusive school.
Key Responsibilities of the Primary Teacher for KS3 Transition:
- Deliver a modified curriculum to support Year 7 students with lower academic confidence or additional needs.
- Ease the transition from primary to secondary education through targeted support.
- Work closely with SEN and pastoral teams to provide a nurturing and structured environment.
- Plan, prepare, and assess engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Track progress, identify gaps, and implement intervention strategies.
- Foster resilience, self-confidence, and independent learning skills in students.
- Collaborate with subject teachers to ensure smooth academic progression.
Requirements of the Primary Teacher for KS3 Transition:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally with Year 5 or 6 pupils.
- Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and how to adapt it for transition.
- Compassionate, patient, and highly organised approach.
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
