Job Title: Pastoral Lead
Location: Sheffield
Salary Range: £100 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are delighted to be recruiting a dedicated and empathetic Pastoral Lead to join a dynamic, inclusive school community in Sheffield. As a Pastoral Lead, you will play an integral role in supporting students’ welfare and fostering a nurturing environment where every individual feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Your leadership will help shape positive behaviours and ensure that all students have the guidance they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the delivery of effective pastoral support programmes, tailored to students’ social and emotional needs.
  • Provide individual and small-group mentoring to address emotional well-being, behaviour challenges, and resilience.
  • Act as a key contact for safeguarding matters, following robust protocols to maintain student safety and welfare.
  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning, including attendance and engagement challenges.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies to facilitate holistic support.
  • Promote a positive school culture through proactive behaviour management strategies and well-being initiatives.
  • Respond to crisis situations with care and professionalism, offering immediate emotional and practical support.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and contribute to student support plans and reviews.

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience working in a pastoral, welfare, or behaviour support capacity within an educational or youth-focused setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe school environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A proactive, empathetic approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering intervention programmes that support social and emotional development.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
