Job Title: Pastoral Lead
Location: Dunscroft
Salary Range: £100 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

This vital role offers the opportunity to become a cornerstone of the school’s pastoral care provision, championing the welfare and personal development of every student.

Role Overview:

As a Pastoral Lead, you will take a central role in promoting student well-being, fostering a safe and inclusive environment, and providing targeted support to help students overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create tailored strategies that ensure each child feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee effective pastoral systems and support frameworks across the school.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to address emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
  • Monitor student attendance and punctuality, implementing strategies to improve engagement and participation.
  • Act as a key liaison for parents and carers, building strong, supportive relationships.
  • Coordinate with external services and agencies to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Promote a positive school culture based on respect, inclusivity, and high expectations.
  • Support staff with strategies to manage challenging behaviours and create consistent, nurturing classroom environments.
  • Maintain detailed records, contributing to individual welfare plans and whole-school reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a pastoral, mentoring, or student support role within a school or educational setting.
  • In-depth understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Confident in handling sensitive situations with empathy, discretion, and firmness when required.
  • Passionate about student welfare and dedicated to promoting positive mental health and resilience.
  • Ability to develop and deliver intervention strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Skilled in collaborating with external agencies and multidisciplinary teams to secure the best outcomes for students.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
