Job Title: Pastoral Lead
Location: Bentley
Salary Range: £100 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Role Overview:

As a Pastoral Lead, you will be the driving force behind promoting student welfare, overseeing behaviour strategies, and ensuring all pupils have the emotional and social support needed to thrive academically and personally. You’ll work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals to remove barriers to learning and champion student well-being.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement effective pastoral care strategies across the school.
  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group support to students facing personal, social, or emotional difficulties.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, intervening early to provide targeted support.
  • Act as a point of contact for parents and carers, fostering positive relationships and regular communication.
  • Liaise with external agencies and services to support students’ individual needs.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity and respect, encouraging positive attitudes and resilience.
  • Support staff in managing challenging behaviours and developing consistent approaches.
  • Maintain accurate records, contributing to reports and student welfare plans.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in a pastoral or student support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Confident in managing challenging situations with empathy and authority.
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset, with a commitment to promoting student well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with external agencies and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of issues affecting young people, including mental health and social factors.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
