Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Sheffield
Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are excited to recruit a compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentor to work with students in Sheffield. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support young people with behavioural, social, and emotional needs, helping them grow in confidence and achieve their potential.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who face barriers to learning due to behavioural difficulties. Your role will focus on understanding their individual needs, developing tailored support strategies, and building strong, positive relationships to guide them towards success both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to support students in developing positive behaviours and social skills.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and strategies in collaboration with teachers and the pastoral team.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and respect.
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  • Support students during lessons, break times, and transitions, helping them remain focused and settled.
  • Track and report on student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers.
  • Promote restorative approaches to help students understand the impact of their actions and make positive choices.

Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs in educational or community settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic nature, able to remain composed under pressure.
  • A solid understanding of behaviour management techniques and a commitment to promoting positive change.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to individual student needs and dynamic classroom environments.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers and reach their full potential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
