SEN Teaching Assistant – Southsea
Hourly Rate: £13.80 – £15.00
Start Date: ASAP/ September 2025

GSL Education are proud to be working with a remarkable special school in Southsea that caters to children and young people aged 2–19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs. We are currently recruiting a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join this exceptional team.

About the school:

The school is based in Southsea, supports pupils aged 2 to 19 with profound, severe, and complex learning difficulties. Many of the pupils also have co-occurring needs such as Autism, significant physical disabilities, and complex medical conditions. The school delivers a highly personalised and specialist curriculum, with a strong focus on communication, independence, and personal development. With a vision to empower its community and prepare every learner for their next stage in life, the school places pupils and their families at the heart of everything it does.

Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant will involve:

  • Supporting students’ communication, independence, and personal care needs
  • Helping pupils build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve personal milestones
  • Engaging learners through fun, creative, and meaningful activities
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Encouraging participation and fostering a love for learning
  • Using innovative strategies to support communication and decision-making
