Location: Wareham
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate or September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent

GSL Education are seeking a motivated and compassionate Educational Support Assistant to join a unique and inspiring educational setting in Wareham. About the School:
The client school is an education setting for 16–25+ year-olds with Special Educational Needs, located on 350 acres of stunning Dorset countryside. The school blends enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the surrounding area. The curriculum focuses on practical vocations including horticulture, agriculture, equine skills, and animal care, among others, to provide a meaningful and enriching education experience that promotes independence and personal growth.
About the role:
In this role, you will assist students with additional needs across a range of vocational subjects. You will support them in developing real-world skills while helping them gain confidence and transition into adulthood and employment. A valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive are ideally required due to the location and nature of the role.
What you have to as an Educational Support Assistant:
- Provide academic and emotional support to students with a range of SEN.
- Assist in the delivery of vocational learning programmes in outdoor and enterprise-based settings.
- Encourage independence and practical skill development.
- Support students in a person-centred and respectful way.
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment at all times.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external agencies.
Educational Support Assistant Requirements:
- Experience working with young people or adults with additional needs.
- CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistance, Health & Social Care, or a related qualification is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to drive is ideally required.
- A proactive, hands-on, and compassionate approach.
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child/adult protection practices.
