Job Title: SEN TA – Autism & SEMH
Location: St Leonards
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

A welcoming and supportive primary school in St Leonards is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This long-term role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and/or SEMH.
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour management.
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual pupil needs.
- Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff and parents/carers.
- Support children in developing confidence, independence, and positive social interaction.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism and/or SEMH (in school or care settings).
- A calm, compassionate, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
- Ability to build strong relationships and trust with young learners.
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education practices.
- Relevant TA or SEN qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
