Job Title: Psychology Graduate – SEN TA
Location: Hailsham
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

A nurturing and forward-thinking primary school in Hailsham is seeking a passionate Psychology Graduate to take on a full-time, long-term role as a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA). This is an ideal opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a rewarding educational setting.

Responsibilities of the Psychology Graduate – SEN TA:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Apply your understanding of psychological theories to support behaviour management, emotional regulation, and learning strategies.
  • Support class teachers with differentiated instruction and individual learning plans.
  • Build trusting, consistent relationships with pupils to support their development.
  • Monitor progress, behaviour, and engagement, contributing to reviews and planning.
  • Work closely with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Job Requirements:

  • A degree in psychology (or a closely related field).
  • A genuine interest in education, mental health, or child development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to support.
  • Experience with children or young people (voluntary or paid) is highly desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
