Job Title: Disability Support Assistant – SEN Primary
Location: Uckfield
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

An inclusive and well-respected SEN primary school in Uckfield is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Disability Support Assistant to join their team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide personalised care and learning support for children with a range of physical and learning disabilities.

Responsibilities of the Disability Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with a range of disabilities and complex needs.
  • Assist with physical care, mobility, and communication support, always ensuring dignity and safety.
  • Adapt learning materials and classroom resources to meet individual needs.
  • Foster positive relationships that promote trust, inclusion, and confidence.
  • Support pupils in their personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement EHCP targets.
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with disabilities or SEN (education or care setting).
  • A calm, patient, and caring nature.
  • Basic knowledge of moving & handling, communication aids (e.g., PECS or Makaton), or willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, care, or SEN are desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
