Job Title: SEN TA – Disabilities & Communication Needs
Location: Polegate
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

A nurturing and well-resourced primary SEN school in Polegate is looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of disabilities and communication needs. The role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference.

Responsibilities of the SEN TA – Disabilities & Communication Needs:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or non-verbal communication needs.
  • Use visual aids, PECS, Makaton, or other strategies to support communication.
  • Assist with personal care routines and mobility needs where appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Contribute to EHCP targets and progress monitoring
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment that encourages pupil independence.
  • Support emotional well-being and celebrate every success, no matter how small.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with disabilities and/or communication challenges.
  • Familiarity with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices is highly desirable.
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, SEN or Care Certificate) are advantageous.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
