Job Title: SEMH Secondary Teacher (Maths Specialist Preferred)
Location: High Peak, SK23
Salary: £150 – £230 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and dedicated SEMH Secondary Teacher to work within a specialist provision supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in High Peak. This role is particularly suited to a teacher with a Maths specialism who is confident delivering engaging and accessible lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.

You will be joining a supportive and forward-thinking team focused on improving life chances for vulnerable young people. Your ability to form positive relationships, provide structure and consistency, and adapt your teaching style will be key to success in this role.

Responsibilities for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Secondary Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons suited to individual learning and emotional needs.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Manage behaviour calmly and effectively, using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
  • Work collaboratively with SEN and pastoral staff to support holistic development.

Requirements for SEMH Secondary Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Maths at secondary level (KS3/KS4); SEMH or alternative provision experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Full UK driving licence and business insurance (essential).
  • Specialism in Maths is preferred.
  • A valid, up-to-date CV and Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
