Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist setting in Chesterfield. This role is ideal for someone with patience, emotional resilience, and a desire to help pupils develop both academically and personally.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to support students in their day-to-day learning. This will involve 1:1 support, small group work, and creating a consistent, safe space where students feel valued and understood.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them access learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
  • Implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Assist in personalising learning activities and interventions.
  • Provide transport support where necessary (business insurance essential).

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • A compassionate and adaptable approach to support.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and business insurance (essential).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A current CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
