We are currently seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant (SLSA) to join the school on a full-time basis from September.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with physical and sensory needs. The role plays a key part in helping students access the curriculum and develop independence through tailored support strategies.

  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to provide targeted support for students with physical and/or sensory needs.
  • Deliver specialist interventions and adapt classroom materials to ensure accessibility and engagement.
  • Use assistive technologies and alternative communication methods to aid student learning and inclusion.
  • Support personal care and physical access where necessary, maintaining dignity and promoting student autonomy.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews and liaise with external professionals.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with young people with additional physical or sensory needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Be confident in using a range of support strategies and assistive technologies.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wider team.
  • Be calm, empathetic, and adaptable to the changing needs of learners.
  • Hold relevant qualifications or training (e.g., Manual Handling, BSL, VI/HI support) – desirable but not essential.

What We Offer:

  • A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact on young people’s lives.
  • Ongoing training and CPD opportunities provided by the school and GSL Education.
  • A supportive and forward-thinking school environment that values inclusion and personalised support.
  • An experienced GSL Education consultant on hand to guide you through every step of the application process, from initial enquiry to interview preparation and post-placement support.

If you're looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a meaningful contribution to the lives of students with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you.
