Food Technician – Secondary School – Fareham, Hampshire

GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a part-time Food Technician to work at a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Fareham, Hampshire, starting from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in food preparation or hospitality who is eager to contribute to the learning and development of students in a hands-on, behind-the-scenes capacity.
As a Food Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, well-equipped food technology classroom and ensuring lessons run smoothly for both teachers and students.
Food Technician Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients and equipment ahead of practical food lessons.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the food technology classroom.
- Maintain stock levels, order supplies, and manage inventories.
- Support teaching staff with demonstrations and lesson set-ups.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Provide assistance to students during practical sessions when required.
Requirements for Food Technician:
- Prior experience in a similar school technician role or within a professional kitchen (desirable).
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A practical, proactive, and flexible approach to school support.
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
