Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant
Location: Eastbourne
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time


Do you have the compassion and dedication to make a lasting difference in a child’s learning journey? A caring and inclusive primary school in Eastbourne is looking for a committed and nurturing Individual Needs Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met throughout the school day.
  • Assist with learning activities, adapting resources and tasks to suit the pupil’s abilities and learning style.
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour through consistent support.
  • Support emotional regulation and social interaction as needed.
  • Liaise with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, contributing to review meetings and updates.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in a 1:1 capacity.
  • A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to support.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of SEN strategies (e.g., visuals, sensory tools, structured routines).
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-specific training) are desirable.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
