Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant – 1:1 SEN Support
Location: Eastbourne
Salary: £90 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are recruiting a compassionate and committed Individual Needs Assistant to support a pupil on a one-to-one basis in a supportive school environment in Eastbourne. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in SEN support or a strong desire to help children thrive in the classroom.

Role Overview:
As an Individual Needs Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to offer tailored one-to-one support, helping the students access the curriculum and develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Responsibilities for Individual Needs Assistant:

  • Provide individualised support to a child with SEN, fostering engagement and confidence.
  • Adapt learning strategies to meet specific needs and abilities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support consistent progress.
  • Support the pupil both inside and outside of the classroom environment.

Requirements for the Individual Needs Assistant role:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a 1:1 or small group setting is highly desirable.
  • A nurturing, patient, and proactive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or willingness to undertake training.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
