Job Title: Behaviour Mentor

Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)

Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are excited to appoint a passionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support students in a welcoming and inclusive school community in Stanley. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on the lives of young learners who need it most.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work directly with students who experience social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, providing essential support to help them re-engage with education. You will champion each student’s potential, guiding them to develop confidence, positive coping strategies, and a sense of achievement both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to students’ emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Implement and support personalised behaviour plans, working closely with teaching and pastoral staff.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and self-discipline.
  • Model positive behaviours and encourage students to develop social and emotional resilience.
  • Support students in developing self-regulation strategies and encourage constructive conflict resolution.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and family members to ensure holistic support for each student.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting young people with behavioural challenges or SEMH needs, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills to engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and solution-focused when managing challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management approaches and restorative practices.
  • A patient, adaptable, and proactive attitude to problem-solving and mentoring.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at all times.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
