Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Alvaston, Derby
Salary: £110 – £120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

We are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Workers to work across schools in Alvaston, Derby. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a strong commitment to helping students engage positively with their education, particularly those who may be at risk of exclusion or require additional behavioural support.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a structured, safe and encouraging learning environment. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will support pupils who display challenging behaviour by implementing tailored strategies and helping them to manage their emotions and actions effectively.

Main Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Worker:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Foster strong, trusting relationships with pupils to build self-esteem and engagement
  • Assist in creating a calm and supportive classroom environment
  • Liaise with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external agencies as needed
  • Support the implementation of behaviour plans and monitor progress
  • Promote inclusive practices that enable all pupils to access the curriculum
  • Uphold all safeguarding and school policies at all times

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly in a behaviour support or pastoral role
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques, including restorative approaches
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education
