Do you have the patience, resilience, and commitment to support pupils with autism and complex needs?
GSL Education are seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Hailsham that supports children with a wide range of learning difficulties and developmental needs.

About the Role:
You’ll play a vital role in the classroom, offering both academic and emotional support. Pupils may have autism, ADHD, speech and language delays, or other developmental conditions. Every day will bring new challenges — and real opportunities to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN, especially those with autism

  • Use structured routines, visuals, and sensory tools to support engagement

  • Assist with emotional regulation and encourage social development

  • Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals to meet individual needs

  • Support pupils with personal care where needed (full training provided)

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs

  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach

  • Awareness of autism support strategies, or willingness to learn

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

What We Offer:

  • Daily pay from £90 to £110, depending on experience

  • Long-term placement in a supportive, specialist setting

  • Access to free safeguarding and SEN training

  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
