Year 2 Learning Support Assistant - Stockport

Location: Stockport

Salary: £18,000 - £22,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

 

GSL Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming, well-organised primary school in Stockport, as they seek a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within their Year 2 classroom, with additional Lunchtime Organiser responsibilities. About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide targeted academic and emotional support for pupils in Year 2, including children with additional needs. You will also take on the role of Lunchtime Organiser, promoting a safe, happy, and inclusive environment during lunch breaks.

 

This is an ideal role for someone who is enthusiastic, caring, and passionate about supporting young children, especially those who may need a little extra help to succeed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Provide tailored support to pupils in Year 2, including those with SEN, to ensure they can access the curriculum effectively

✔ Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies

✔ Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning and social development

✔ Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

✔ Oversee lunchtime routines, ensuring pupils are safe, engaged, and positive behaviour is promoted during the lunch period

✔ Encourage active play, social interaction, and conflict resolution in the playground

 

What We’re Looking For:

✔ Experience working with young children, ideally within a primary school setting

✔ Understanding of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties

✔ A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children

✔ Confidence in promoting positive behaviour and creating an inclusive environment

✔ Strong communication and teamwork skills

✔ The right to work in the UK

✔ An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years

✔ A DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education
