Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School | Central Southampton

GSL Education is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school located in central Southampton. This full-time role is set to begin in September, with interviews being held next week, offering a swift and smooth hiring process for the right candidate.


The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their potential. This is a diverse and flexible role, where your day might start by supporting a classroom teacher during lessons and later shift to working with individual students who have additional learning needs, such as autism, ADHD, or social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing classroom support across a range of subjects and year groups
  • Delivering 1:1 or small group interventions tailored to individual learning needs
  • Assisting with lesson planning and resource preparation
  • Helping students to build self-esteem, resilience and engagement with learning
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Working closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams
