Salary Range: £160 to £250 per day (depending on experience)

If so, GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teacher to work at a specialist provision in the Sheffield area. This is a rewarding opportunity to guide pupils who require additional support to re-engage with their education, build emotional resilience, and develop confidence in their learning journey.

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, you will work with students who experience social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, providing them with an inclusive, tailored education that fosters personal growth and academic achievement. Your creativity, patience, and understanding will help pupils build confidence and develop lifelong skills.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver bespoke lessons that cater to individual needs, ensuring a balanced focus on academic and personal development.
  • Foster a supportive and trauma-informed classroom environment that encourages engagement and reduces anxiety.
  • Use creative and therapeutic teaching approaches to help students overcome behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, support staff, and external professionals to implement holistic strategies.
  • Monitor students’ emotional well-being and progress, adapting plans as necessary.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistent, fair classroom routines.
  • Engage with parents and carers to build trusting relationships that support each child’s progress.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs in specialist or mainstream settings.
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practices.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and resources to suit diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm and empathetic approach.
  • A deep commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
