Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? We are looking for a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a SEN child at a welcoming primary school in Loughton.

You will be supporting a child with ASD/ADHD, helping them access the curriculum, develop social and communication skills, and thrive within the classroom environment. Your role will involve working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised strategies and ensure the child’s individual needs are met effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN throughout the school day

  • Assist with implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans

  • Promote inclusion and ensure the child feels valued and supported

  • Use strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, SENCO, and parents regarding progress

  • Support the child’s social interaction with peers in group and play activities

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school with a proactive and flexible approach

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant (ideally supporting SEN children)

  • A patient, nurturing, and positive attitude

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Understanding of ASD, ADHD, or other additional needs (desirable)

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are beneficial but not essential for strong experience
