SEN Teaching Assistant – September 2025 Start
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Daily Pay: £89 – £108
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? GSL Education is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in York from September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-regarded school that caters for students aged 11 to 19 with a wide range of additional needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, autism, and complex needs. The school is known for its strong pastoral ethos, inclusive approach, and high levels of staff support and training.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored classroom support to students with a range of SEN, including autism and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual learning and behaviour plans.
  • Promote engagement, independence, and confidence in learners.
  • Support pupils with personal care when required.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment that supports each child’s development.

As the ideal Teaching Assistant, you should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting inclusion and diversity in education.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An understanding of EHCPs and differentiated learning (preferred).
