Job Title: Pastoral Officer
Location: Chesterfield or Derbyshire
Salary: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and empathetic Pastoral Officer to work across schools in Chesterfield or Derbyshire. This role is ideal for individuals who have a background in education, youth work, or mental health and are looking to support pupils both emotionally and socially.
Role Overview:
As a Pastoral Officer, you will play a key role in promoting a positive and inclusive school environment. You will be responsible for supporting pupils’ wellbeing, liaising with families, and working closely with teaching and safeguarding teams to ensure the best outcomes for all learners.
Key Responsibilities of Pastoral Officer:
- Provide day-to-day pastoral support to pupils with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and overall welfare of students.
- Liaise with families, external agencies, and school staff to provide coordinated support.
- Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding protocols.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional resilience through mentoring and intervention programmes.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in a similar pastoral, safeguarding, or wellbeing-focused role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with pupils and staff.
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures in schools.
- A calm, supportive, and patient approach to challenging situations.
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
